RTWood was founded several years ago as a result of my passion to design and hand build unique furniture to an exacting standard. It is my belief that furniture should compliment its surroundings in the same manner as carefully selected artwork.
Whilst most items of furniture that one can buy in the shops are built on factory lines in their thousands, the ethos of RTWood is to create truly bespoke furniture.
The design process itself is typically done in conjunction with the client. On most items we have a consultation process to discuss design, wood type based on both the client’s desires and the habitat in which the furniture will sit. Thereafter RTWood will sketch ideas and once approved by the client start the creation of the furniture. As a handmade creation built for its surroundings the furniture may be funky and modern to fit that penthouse pad, or traditional and substantial to fit your hunting lodge.
By handbuilding furniture we are able to go beyond the boundaries of machines to create sculptural curves or intricate carving and use any of the thousands of woods that are available.
As part of the personal service that we offer all furniture is delivered and situated by myself – Henry Ross-Taylor (Designer & Sculpture - RTWood).
